One of eight race days on the calendar, the Mudgee Cup attracts both regional and city crowds to one of country NSW’s premier racecourses in the heart of the popular Mudgee wine region. The race track is within walking distance from Mudgee, so leave the car in town, skip the taxi, and saunter through the gates of a cracking day out.

While the Mudgee Cup is a prime attraction, there’s plenty of racing action year round. If you’re keen to avoid the summer heat, the Mudgee Race Club’s Manly 2 Mudgee meet is held in April on the Sunday following the Manly NRL match in town. The Mudgee track also hosts Racing NSW for a round of its Country Championships every February, with horses qualifying for the famous Kosciuszko race at Randwick later in the year.

Race days are filled with quality racing, fashions, food, beverages, and entertainment, along with TAB, bookmakers and a variety of ticket options to suit all preferences and budgets. Savour local wines as you admire the race track, which overlooks the beautiful country town. Like many country clubs, the race track was heavily impacted by flooding in 2022, but the dedicated committee has tirelessly worked to restore it to its former glory and is ready to welcome spectators back.

Mudgee has been crowned Australia's top tourism town for two years running. It’s a town with no traffic lights but more than 600 short stay accommodation options in the Mid Western Region, as well as hotels and caravan parks, more than 40 cellar doors and chef hatted restaurants.

You can drive to Mudgee from Sydney in under four hours or Fly Pelican services the local airport from Sydney daily. Grab your calendar and book a weekend in this beautiful country town to sip, eat, and race your way through one of the hottest regional destinations Australia has to offer.
